Compliance Officer
Job Summary:
As a compliance officer you are responsible to establishing a robust AML/CFT framework, conducting risk assessments, performing due diligence, monitoring transactions, reporting suspicious activity, delivering training, maintaining records, and liaising with regulators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the appointed MLRO, ensuring compliance with UAE Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) laws.
- Develop, implement, and maintain AML/CTF compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Monitor, review, and analyse transactions for suspicious activity; prepare and file Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) with relevant authorities.
- Conduct customer due diligence (CDD) and enhanced due diligence (EDD) for high-risk clients in line with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain an effective risk-based approach to AML monitoring and client onboarding.
- Review and approve KYC documentation for all new and existing clients.
- Carry out regular internal compliance audits and gap analyses to identify and address potential weaknesses.
- Stay updated with changes in UAE AML/CTF laws, real estate regulatory guidelines, and FATF recommendations, and advise management accordingly.
- Deliver regular AML/CTF and compliance training sessions to employees and maintain training records.
- Maintain the company’s AML/CTF risk register and ensure accurate, up-to-date compliance records.
- Act as the main point of contact with the UAE Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), and other regulatory bodies.
- Oversee compliance reporting to the management and prepare periodic compliance status reports.
- Coordinate with external auditors, consultants, and legal advisors on compliance matters.
- Support in the investigation and resolution of compliance breaches or policy violations.
- Ensure timely submission of all required regulatory filings and declarations
- Proven experience in a compliance, legal, or regulatory role (real estate or financial services preferred).
- Strong knowledge of UAE real estate regulations, including RERA and DLD frameworks.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, maintains confidentiality, and handles sensitive information.
- Fluent in English; Arabic is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Compliance, or related field (certifications such as ICA or CAMS are an advantage).
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a compliance, legal, or regulatory role (real estate or financial services preferred).
- Strong knowledge of UAE real estate regulations, including RERA and DLD frameworks.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, maintains confidentiality, and handles sensitive information.
- Fluent in English; Arabic is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Compliance, or related field (certifications such as ICA or CAMS are an advantage).
